Whirlwind
2024
51 cm/ 20 inches square
cotton fabrics, machine pieced, machine quilted
This was made for my contemporary quilt group's challenge. A striking design element of the piece had to be a curved line that touches parallel sides. In addition, we all had to use the same four fabrics for the challenge, but could use any technique. These were displayed in our exhibition at the Willesden Library.

Fungi Portraits: Spore Shooters, Jellies and a Coral
2024
96 x 101 cm / 38” x 40 inches
ccotton fabric, professionally printed fabric (by the Silk Bureau), machine pieced, free-motion machine quilted, hand embroidered, embellished with embroidery and beads
I have been taking portraits of fungi with my camera for several years and had the photos printed on fabric. These are some of my favourites because they are so unusual and colourful. They are ascomycetes (spore shooters), some jelly fungi plus a coral fungus to round things off. I wanted them to look like real portraits on a wall, hence the green background with tiny embroidered X's to look like wallpaper.

Fungi Portraits of Waxcaps
2024
101cm/ 40 inches square
cotton fabric and professionally printed fabric featuring my own photos of mushrooms,
machine pieced, machine quilted
I had a collection of colourful waxcap fabrics that were photographed in my garden and my local area in Oxfordshire.
I framed them in matching bright colours and used a red fabric to really brighten up the whole design.

Patchwork Sunrise
2025
100 x 174 cm/ 39 x 68 inches
cotton fabric, Easy Stack patchwork, machine stitched, machine quilted
Paula Doyle taught me her “Easy Stack” technique which entails lining up four layers of fabric exactly, cutting it into squares, then swirling the squares to create a kaleidoscopic effect. I used only one fabric to create this design and ordered the squares by colour to give the effect of a sunrise.
