Nature for Absolute Beginners: Late Spring Flowers

Picture
As spring progressed last year, I grew more and more enchanted with the wildflowers growing in my part of the Chilterns in Oxfordshire, UK. I was particularly struck by the flowers growing on the chalky downland that is prevalent here. I feel so lucky to see all these gorgeous plants while walking Jack, my Border Terrier. Here is a selection of late spring flowers. This article was published in the Henley Standard on May 21, 2021. Above is a beautiful plant with a terrible name: Dropwort.
